NSFAS is yet to open their NSFAS bursary applications for 2022. On Thursday morning, the financial aid scheme released a statement where they spoke on why NSFAS 2022 applications have not been announced yet.

Normally, NSFAS would open their NSFAS bursary applications for the following year in September and they would close around December. However, we have reached October and still, NSFAS 2022 applications remain closed.

NSFAS explained that the delay by saying:

We are finalising relevant upgrades to our systems to ensure a smooth application experience for you.

They went on to warn beneficiaries and future applicants fake websites and social media platforms which aim to get your personal information to apply and rob you. Should you be asked to visit any websites and the message is not coming from NSFAS or an official source, you should ignore it.

Messages like these and other NSFAS scams can be reported to the Vuvuzela Hotline on 0860 247 653.

NSFAS went on to advise prospective beneficiaries to apply to Universities and TVET Colleges for 2022 as closing dates are fast approaching.

You will not be able to receive a NSFAS bursary if you are not registered at one of the 26 Public Universities or 50 Public TVET Colleges.

As usual, NSFAS continues to urge everyone to keep checking all NSFAS platforms for 2022 NSFAS applications updates.

NSFAS provides bursaries to students who attend one of South Africa’s public Universities and Colleges. This bursary covers registration, tuition fees, books, accommodation, transport as well as other necessary needs.

At the beginning of the year, students receive a learning materials NSFAS allowance of R5200 and then every month, other relevant NSFAS allowances are disbursed to students.
