Pick n Pay Retailers (Pty) Ltd is offering an exciting opportunity for young South Africans to launch their careers in the butchery trade through the MasterCut Apprentice to Artisan Programme. This full-time apprentice programme is designed to equip participants with expert-level skills in meat processing, hygiene, packaging, and customer service setting them on a path to become certified Meat Artisans.
Whether male or female, if youre determined, physically fit, and eager to work in cold environments while learning hands-on, this programme is for you.
What You Will Learn
Meat Mastery: How to cut, trim, portion, and prep meat like a pro (including sausages and cold cuts)
Packaging & Display: Weighing, wrapping, and creatively displaying products
Hygiene & Safety: Cleanliness standards and tool handling
Operations: Stock management, floor operations, and handling equipment (including band saws)
Customer Service: Guiding customers and providing expert meat tips at the counter
Who Can Apply
Unemployed South African youth aged 18 to 34 years old
Physically strong and comfortable working with your hands and on your feet
Passionate about food and keen to learn
Comfortable working in cold environments
