SUN MeDIA Stellenbosch is offering a 6-month Publishing Internship opportunity. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable publishing industry experience and if the internship is completed successfully, there is a possibility of employment.
Reports to the General Manager: Publishing & Operations
The candidate will be involved in the following processes
Design and layout of publications in Adobe InDesign
Editorial work on journals and publications including proofreading Packaging journals and publications for online distribution (PDF, XML, HTML & EPUB)
Assisting in the publication process, including: ― Evaluating manuscripts ― The peer review process ― Production planning and scheduling and ― Marketing and distribution
Accuracy and thoroughness
Attention to detail The ability to work under pressure
Organisational skills
Communication skills (English and Afrikaans)
Computer skills (especially in Adobe CS/CC and Microsoft Office – non-negotiable)
Language Editing Skills
Ability to work independently and in a teamGiven the employment equity policy of the company, preference will be given to suitable candidates from designated groups. SUN MeDIA reserves the right not to fill the position.
