The National Library of South Africa is offering 2 ICT Internships. The are inviting applications from suitably qualified Graduates for appointment on a 12 months Internship contract. The successful individual will be based at our Pretoria Campus. A monthly allowance of R6 000.00 will be paid. People living with disabilities are welcome to apply
The objectives of the National Library are to contribute to socio-economic, cultural, educational, scientific and innovative development by collecting, recording, preserving and making available the national documentary heritage and promoting an awareness and appreciation thereof, by fostering information literacy, and by facilitating access to the world’s information resources.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of web services
- Database administration
- Updating applications and operational software
- Manage telephone system
- Software licenses renewal
- Maintenance of all software register
- Maintain a register for roaming equipment
- Allocation of user access rights
- Acknowledge help desk calls in time in line with the Operational Level Agreement
- Attend to help desk calls, escalate help desk calls to relevant administrators and make follow ups and up until closure of calls
- Responsible for user satisfaction
- Test audio visual equipment one day before the event date and ensure that the system is in working order before the events
Requirements
- Completed National Diploma or Degree in IT or Computer Science or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of various operating systems e.g. Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server, Linux
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to prioritize and innovate
- No experience required
