Cenfri (The Centre for Financial Regulation & Inclusion) is a think and do tank that bridges the gap between insights and impact in the financial sector. Based in Cape Town, we are driven by the vision of a world where all people live their financial lives optimally to enhance welfare and grow the economy. Our core focus is on generating insights that can inform policymakers, market players and donors seeking to unlock development outcomes through inclusive financial services and the financial sector more broadly.

Cenfri is looking for curious individuals with a passion for real world development to join the team as a Research intern in Cape Town, The role of the intern would be to support research teams where needed, including desktop-based research, data analysis, copy-editing, structuring of information and data into clear and usable formats, contributing to project outcomes and findings through critical analysis, and report writing. The internship will consist of a two-week trial period, after which a longer-term contract can be negotiated and structured to fit around any academic constraints.

Requirements
If you are currently completing an Honours or Master’s degree in Economics or related fields (finance, development, statistics, politics, or law) and are interested in obtaining work experience while studying,we encourage you to apply.Candidates must have the following attributes:

  • Advanced English language skills (verbal and written) with additional languages such as Spanish, French and/or Portuguese an advantage
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated interest in the field of development economics and financial sector development
  • Good statistical and analytical skills
  • A strong interest in research-related activities
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
