Submit CV: Apprenticeship Programme at Vesuvius

Vesuvius South Africa is embarking on an Artisan Apprenticeship program that will focus on Fitter, Electrical and Boilermaker trades. The programme will be based in Olifantsfontein, Gauteng.

The objective is to train and develop our own artisans and improve the skills base in the Engineering Departments. Should you be interested in applying, please take note of the below requirements and process.

Practical Training Process and Duration

Learners will attend tuitions at a registered and accredited Technical College
Learners will be registered on a 40-week modular training and will be required to complete levels 1, 2, 3 (inclusive practical training).
Six months will be allocated to in-plant practicaltraining, which includes working on equipment under supervision of a qualified artisan
Hours and tasks have to be logged and signed off
Minimum training duration towards qualification – 80 weeks
Artisan Mentors will be assigned to each apprentice, who will monitor on the job training and sign off training registers.
Trade preparedness modules will be scheduled to assess the readiness for each learner to undergo the trade test.
On successfully passing a trade test, the apprentice will be employed in an artisan position, if any vacancy exists at the time or released from the contract.

Requirements and Selection

Minimum entry level requirement is acompleted NTC4 (applied maths, science, technical drawing and trade theory).
Based on the requirements met, interviews will be conducted and a short List will be compiled
Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo an aptitude / psychometric tests approved by HRPCSA (conducted by a registered psychometrist) and streamed into Mechanical or Electrical fields.
All successful candidates will be made aware of the rules and regulations of this Program and thereafter will be required to sign an agreement
