Eventhough you might be in a hurry to fetch your R350 grant payment, SASSA has said that you can’t just go fetch your grant. Keep reading to find out what needs to happen before you fetch your grant.
Before SRD grant beneficiaries fetch their R350 grants, they first need to have received an SMS. If there is no SMS, it means that the grant is not available for collection yet.
This SMS would tell the beneficiary that their SRD grant is ready to be collected. They can then head to their nearest Post Office, PicknPay or Boxer store to collect their grant.
The option to collect at a PicknPay or Boxer store is only open to grant recipients who have received an SMS from the SASSA confirming their collection payout point as either Pick n Pay or Boxer.
The beneficiary should make sure that they take their ID and physical cellphone with them when collecting their grant.
As for the Post Office, you will need to wait for an SMS to say that you can collect and you should not go to the Post Office if you haven’t received an SMS. Beneficiaries are also urged to not go to the Post Office to find out when their grant would be paid and should instead just wait for the SMS.
Payments are done in groups at the Post Office so that queues can be avoided. The last three digits of the beneficiaries’ ID number is taken to make the groups which will see payment collections being done on specific days.
It’s also important to remember that there is no set date for R350 grant payments. SASSA aims to pay grants soon after R350 grant applications have been verified and approved.
