The countdown to midnight continues before Parents and Guardians in Gauteng are no longer able to submit their online applications for phase two of the 2022 school admissions for Grade 1 and Grade 8 pupils.
Parents and guardians of Grade 1 and 8 pupils have until midnight to submit their applications. As of Thursday, the department had received over 280 000 applications. This translates to over 30 000 applications for Grade 8 and over 250 000 applications for Grade 1.
Gauteng Education Department Spokesperson, Steve Mabona says that those that applying today must ensure that they upload all the relevant documents before the provincial department shuts down the system.
He further states that parents would only experience challenges with the application system due to added features but that the number of applications shows that they have found it much easier to work with.
Looking at the number of people that applied at a certain time you can tell that people understand the system.
Mabona adds that the online application method is necessary to ensure that people stay safe from the risk of being infected with Covid-19.
The department recorded a total of 351 169 applications during phase one of online admissions, which officially closed on 3 September 2021. The placement process will run from 15 October to 30 November 2021
