Join the Nike Academy Johannesburg looking for young Football players

The search for the best unsigned talent is on. Nike Football South Africa looking for young players with the technical skill, focus and attitude to take their game to the next level. Open to male South African footballers with a valid residential ID document/ passport between the ages of 16-20 who are not currently contracted to any professional football club. Participants will need to make their own way to the trial.

Young, unsigned footballers from around South Africa will now have the opportunity to join the Nike Academy, an elite training programme headed up by a team of highly qualified local football coaches.

The Nike Academy provides a weekly pro-level training session where young footballers will develop their skills under the expert guidance of coaches and mentors for ten weeks a season. Each season commences with a two-day trialling opportunity where about 40 players with the most potential are selected to join the full 10 week training programme. Players can try out for each season if they don’t make the first trial.

The Nike Academy is based at the refurbished Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto, and is open to all aspiring footballers aged 16 to 20 years.

As a platform that will contribute to national development structures, the Nike Football Academy will work closely with the South African Football Association (SAFA), Kaizer Chiefs and Soweto Local Football Association to ensure the long term sustainability and effectiveness of the programme.

Interested players have to prove their football ability for a shot at joining the Nike Academy Johannesburg. There is no cost to join the Nike Academy, but footballers will have to be committed to train every Monday night. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Registration for trials is open and two-day trials will be hosted on 19 and 20 August 2017.
