As a public policy intern, you will learn how the government addresses public issues by analysing specific policies and preparing various submissions that guide Bolt’s business in the market.

On a day-to-day basis, you will stay busy conducting policy research and analysis, writing briefs, and providing general administrative support as well as participating in various internal (and potentially external) meetings. Essential skills required for the position include flexibility, organisation, communication, and the ability to work through legal jargon (lengthy documents and position papers) and reduce that into accessible content.

Responsibilities:

Your daily adventures will include:

  • Help with the preparations for regulatory meetings which may include research and preparation of material
  • Conduct research on local regulatory requirements and policies relevant to the business
  • Opportunity to identify places for impact within the legal team and to take initiative in proposing updated processes
  • Other general operations and daily tasks in support of the legal team as directed by the Manager
  • Assist in analysing proposed regulations and policy changes to assess their potential impact on Bolt’s operations
  • Support the Regulatory & Policy team in developing strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities
  • Assist in drafting reports, presentations, and other documents to communicate regulatory and policy updates internally
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Operations, Tax, and PR, to ensure alignment on regulatory compliance efforts
  • Monitor industry trends and developments to identify emerging regulatory issues and opportunities

 

Requirements:

  • Must Have: completed an Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in the areas of:
  1. Communications,
  2. Strategic Communications,
  3. Political Science
  4. Law
  5. or areas covering Public Policy; Political Analysis; Legislative Research; Community Outreach and Political Awareness or Political Advocacy
  • Willing to learn about Bolt’s mission (understanding its ride-hailing and delivery businesses in particular)
  • Fluency in English
  • Energetic and imaginative
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Uphold appropriate standards of confidentiality
  • Eligible to work in South Africa
