Graduate Special CEO Assistant at the African Leadership Academy

African Leadership Academy seeks a high performing young professional with a passion for social impact to work directly with the CEO and Chief of Staff to enable our ambitious strategic plan. This role is based in Honeydew, Gauteng.We are looking for a young African leader who will work in the office of the Founder and CEO to enable our agenda. This is not an ordinary ‘administrative’ role: it is a high visibility role working alongside a seasoned social entrepreneur to enable ALA’s mission and impact. The assistant will have a set of administrative duties, and will also work on a series of high-impact strategic projects designed to enable the long-term success of our organization. The role requires an exceptional writer and clear thinker with a high degree of personal organization. The Assistant to the CEO will report to the Chief of Staff, and will work directly with the CEO of ALA.The Academy seeks to transform Africa by identifying, developing, and connecting its future leaders. The Academy was founded on the philosophy that a new generation of ethical, committed leaders is the key to Africa’s development.

Start Date: 1 August 2015

Expected Responsibilities

  • With the CEO and Chief of Staff, ensure that the CEO’s office is allocating time toward driving forward the most important projects to enable our mission
  • Write reports and memoranda that communicate ALA’s mission and model to a wide range of audiences
  • Support the Chief of Staff in managing projects that enable ALA’s key strategic priorities

Requirements

  • A recent Bachelor’s degree graduate who is an exceptional communicator with a passion for social innovation
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented: you recognize that small mistakes undermine our global perception and value of excellence
  • A lifelong learner with a characteristic maturity
  • A passion for Africa, global development, and social innovation
