Gauteng Education Department Starts School Placements

Posted on 16 October 202116 October 2021 by Khabza

The Gauteng Education Department began their school placements on Friday 15 October. According to Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, parents have been confirming that they have received school placement offers for their children.

Yesterday on Friday 15 October, the Gauteng Department of Education stated that the online admission of Grade 1 and 8 were taking place.

According to Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, parents have been confirming that they have received school placement offers for their children.

After the announcement that school placement will take place on 15 October, parents and guardians have gone online to confirm the placement of their children for 2022.

Some received SMSes to state that their child has been placed at a certain school. These parents did not need to accept any offers as their placement has been confirmed.

The school placement process will continue until the 30th of November 2021.

Mabona announced that during this time, the DBE will be offering school placements and those that could not be accommodated at high-pressure schools will be transferred to schools that will be able to accommodate them.

The DBE stated that those who are struggling are more than welcome to engage with them via their call centres.

Mabona has requested that parents and guardians remain calm and be patient regarding the ten high-pressure schools.

“For instance, a school that would have to accommodate 221 and the applications are more than 1 400, so you would understand that you have 1 200 disgruntled parents and we need to accommodate them in the neighbouring schools or schools that would be in a position to accommodate them,” said Mabona.

Therefore, parents and guardians are urged to stay calm while the department finds placement for their children.
