Five Latest Wedding Photography Trends to Watch out for in 2021

Posted on 6 February 202120 April 2021 by Khabza

The last year has been a year of change that none of us expected. The wedding industry was pretty much a write off in the year 2020. As we look to the future for business planning, making the most out of any industry change requires positioning our brands and our businesses in a way that can accommodate those changes. It’s no secret that industries across the world were affected by the pandemic, and its effect on the wedding industry was equally brutal. However, the top Asian wedding photographer in London pulled through and adapted to the new norm despite the many hurdles. And, as such, the year 2020 brought some new twists to wedding photography trends for the year 2021.

Weddings became more intimate with limited guests attending, masks became the new must-have accessories, and zoom weddings became more common. Wedding photographers also had to navigate through unchartered territory. You couldn’t get too close to people; you had to prioritize your safety, destination and local weddings were getting cancelled or postponed, you get the point. It wasn’t easy. Following are the latest wedding photography trends to watch in the year 2021:

Table of Contents

  • Masked Photography:
  • Drone Photography:
  • Pre-Wedding Photography:
  • Playful Photography:
  • Group Photography:

Masked Photography:

A wedding photographer needs to capture the smallest details – the veil, the bridesmaids’ dresses, and the groom’s bow tie. When it comes to details, another carryover from the year 2020 that may trend in 2021 is photographing masks and couples or guests wearing masks. Until you know for sure that everyone is safe from infection, couples and guests may still want to wear masks, and if they get a mask that matches their attire, this will be a detail worth capturing.

With today’s scenario, gone are the days of huge weddings at fancy wedding locations, although they were a delight to shoot and watch. Due to the pandemic, the stringent safety measures to shoot have resulted in more authentic and intimate photography. Now it’s shooting the couple in their happy environment in their homes, streets or backyard. Moreover, it captures the celebration of love with the closest of friends and family. Small weddings have played a vital role in how we see photography today. It is not just about the glitz and glamour any more, as commonly said, it is more about capturing the subtle reality, making it more real than reality in itself.

Drone Photography:

With the rise of modern technology, the time is right to take benefit of drones. With such devices’ help, you can get different and unique overhead shots of the couple, which can create original wedding portraits. Another huge benefit of drone photography is that it can capture the ceremony on a broader scale, compared to overground photography. Another is a vintage look which is a constant trend when it comes to a top Asian wedding photographer in London is the vintage look. Slightly faded colours and vintage effects give a more nostalgic feel to your images.

Pre-Wedding Photography:

The wedding isn’t just about the ceremony and the feast. The bride and groom’s preparation is a big deal, so it should be captured with great shots. This is a good opportunity for some close-ups of hair-do, makeup, and other things that add to the event’s glam.

Pre-wedding photography is prevalent. However, if you are planning an Asian wedding, then you probably know how important it is. Pre-wedding photos should have an editorial touch. The first step to a successful pre-wedding shooting is the discovery for the ideal location. The couple should be able to live the dream and create something that represents their love. A great way to show that is with a proposal shot, where the couple can relive this happy memory. Asian wedding videographers will help you to suggest the best locations for the perfect pre-wedding shoots.

Playful Photography:

If you wish to keep up with the latest social media trends, you can apply them to your big day wedding shots. The before-mentioned group image can be shot to create a unique effect. Every wedding also evolves plenty of dancing. Especially in Sikh weddings, you can get impressive shots due to all those beautiful colours.

This special day is filled with every little detail that deserves to be captured. This can vary from the wedding cake, the bride’s dress or expressions in the bride and groom’s faces. Highlight all those details by keeping the background out of focus.

Group Photography:

Your big day is about you and your significant other half. However, your family and friends are equally important to the happy memories that you form. So, what great way to remember the people that stood beside you than by taking group pictures? Funny poses with your family, or funny and eccentric poses with your friends, will create an effect to remember.

Another trend that persists through time is the black and white shots. These photographs are guaranteed to be dramatic and artistic, both very desirable for the wedding album.
