AFTER everything he’s been through this year, from being fired on Metro FM and his girlfriend dumping him, flamboyant DJ Sbu says he wants to take about 100 kids to school next year.
The controversial DJ was spilling beans on e.tv celebrity interview series, Close Up with Nicky Greenwall. Sbu, real name Sibusiso Leope revealed that he also failed his matric, and had to repeat the following year before enrolling in electrical engineering at Wits Tech.
The Remember When It Rain hit-maker said he can relate to most of these students who fail at school.
He believes that committing suicide and being depressed is possible when someone fails his final year in school. “I didn’t like my studies and I wasn’t an A student,” he reveals.
DJ Sbu is known for being a real hustler and entrepreneur. He is also the owner of Mofaya – an energy drink that has landed him hot water several times. However, the DJ has something precious to celebrate – his daughter.
He says that his two year old daughter, Waratwa Leope changed his life. He revealed that everything he does is totally for his daughter he has with ex-fiancé, Disebo Makatsa.
“I am not a perfect human being but she makes me want to become perfect,” he said on the show. He adds that, “She makes me want to do things better, become a better brother and a better leader.”
He said she was one of the reasons he decided to go back to school and be a better father. DJ Sbu, who was raised by a stepfather, says he only met his biological father in 2009 in his death bed.
“It was a humbling experience.”
