Their principal responsibilities are to:
- Research topics relating to Sub-Southern Africa that affect the business world
- Break stories online and on the channel
- Set up interviews
- Conduct interviews in the field for both online and the channel
- Write 2-3 articles a day for CNBCAfrica.com
- Contribute at least one article a month to either Forbes Africa or Forbes Woman Africa
- Post your story online
- Assist with posting content from the wires
- Look at creative ways including social media to drive readers to CNBCAfrica.com
- Contribute ideas to cover online and on the channel in daily editorials
- Voice packages
- Arrange shoots, book interviews & cameramen, pre-interviewing, working with an ENG editor on long-form programmes, packages & inserts.
- Produce packages
- Provide inserts for shows
- Scripting
- Creative thinking for overlay, angle
The principal responsibilities of an assistant producer are to:
- Assist in all aspects of programme production including writing news and/or feature packages, reading news-wires, writing news from news-wires, performing basic video editing on workstation, monitoring video feeds, sourcing graphics as necessary for the programme/content, assisting in all other aspects of the preparation of a news bulletin and/or recorded show.
- Assist the Producer in the Control Room when the show is on-air.
- Handle producing in the Control Room when the show is on air.
- Sourcing guests, both live and as ‘phoners’.
- Be involved in conducting interviews in the field, voicing packages, arranging shoots, booking, pre-interviewing, greeting and seating guests, working with an ENG Editor on long-form programmes.
- Carry out any other work as deemed necessary from time to time by the Chief Editor.
- From time to time, carry out voicing and on-camera work in accordance with ability as directed by, and at the sole discretion of, the Chief Editor.
- Be familiar with the latest events and business news in the region and the world.
- Carry out any other tasks as deemed necessary from time to time by management
