5 Amazing Tips to Consider When Flying With Kids

Before the trip, pre-order your kid’s meals

On average, your flight will take not less than eight hours. The good thing is that economy class serves meals free. However, this is where the great news ends. To be fair, travel by air has improved somewhat in the recent years.

An average 4 year old who is into hard peas and rubbery poultry will surely not want anything to do with airline meals. Fortunately, most, if not all, airlines allow you to bring your child’s meals when booking your flight. If your kid is into meals such as fried rice with pork, ravioli with tomato sauce or cheese and macaroni, then be sure to bring them with you. This will ensure your kid does not starve during the trip also just play some kids songs.

Some little junk is ok

Oh yes, junk food isn’t healthy, but during your flight, having your kid take it does more good than harm. Therefore, don’t feel guilty for allowing your child to enjoy a pack of Oreo cookies while in the plane. You should bring additional snacks that are allowed for your kids. Obviously, as you bring the junk, include healthy goodies too.

Avoid chocolate as well as other high-sugar items. Remember that it is not the time for a sugar high spree. Neither is it time, or the occasion, to get rigid when it comes to nutrition. The best attribute about some airlines is that they provide your kids with playthings to keep them busy throughout the flight.

How about flying when they are asleep

It is normal for some kids to sleep anywhere. The truth is that others can’t. You have to know what category your kids fall into before you book your next flight. If your child sleeps anywhere, then it is prudent to book the overnight flights. In most cases, you shall enjoy the entire flight because the little one will be asleep. Who knows, you can even grab your favorite movie as you enjoy some wine.

Teach your little one the wonder of flying

For sure, flying is amazing and fun. Nonetheless, remember that your kids do not commute to work on budget planes. Therefore, they will be excited about going up to the sky. For you, flying was once wondrous. To your kids, it remains so. Consequently, point out the little houses, the setting sun, the clouds and other interesting things.

If you are desperate, have them count the number of passengers in the flight. If possible, take him or her to the cockpit. Surprisingly, even the adults enjoy it. Your child may decide to be a pilot from that experience – until he or she dreams up of something else.

Consider playing pilots

If your child is afraid of flying, consider role-playing with him or her. Let the little one be a flight attendant or pilot. Be sure to play everything that takes place on board.
