248 Schools Damaged By KZN Floods

The floods in KwaZulu-Natal damaged hundreds of schools, which are being assessed. Authorities have stated that they will advise parents on the way forward as soon as they have more information.

Nkosinathi Ngcobo from the KZN Education Department noted that about 248 schools were affected by the floods. Due to damages, some schools needed to close down until solutions were implemented. The extent of injuries varies depending on location. Those heavily affected will need to have mobile classrooms built to continue teaching and learning. The floods did not only damage schools but also displaced many individuals from their homes. These people have been accommodated at schools while housing solutions are set. During this long weekend, authorities are coming up with solutions for these individuals and pupils who will need to return to school next Tuesday.
