The programme will run from 1 February 2016 to 31 December 2016.
This programme supports the concept of mentoring as an essential means for learning and development.
A Rhodes University Internship is a full-time employment opportunity that aims to provide fresh graduates with a strong academic track record the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills through gaining critical working experience in their chosen fields. Interns are given real responsibilities and continuous development through dedicated mentoring and training initiatives.
Remuneration: Gross monthly salary of R 6,691 (subject to an annual adjustment in 2016)
Rhodes is recruiting in the following areas:
- Geology
- Zoology
- Human Resources (2 posts)
- International Office
- Student Affairs
- SA Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (Communications internship)
Minimum requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3 year tertiary qualification with no more than 1 years’ professional working experience;
- i.e. those with more than a year’s formal and continuous work experience are not eligible;
- Must be Black (as defined by the Employment Equity Act) in accordance with the University’s Equity Policy;
- Must be a South African citizen;
- Must be from the Eastern Cape and be prepared to reside in Grahamstown for the duration of the internship.

- Computer literacy, with a basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Email and the Internet
- Good communication skills in English (both verbal and written).
