FEMA Compliance Analyst Internship November

The Federated Employers’ Mutual Assurance Company invites applications for a 12-month Compliance Analyst Internship position at their Head Office, in Houghton.

The primary purpose of the position is to assist in monitoring and assessing compliance with applicable regulatory requirements within the business. To further provide efficient Compliance support to head of departments and to enable them to discharge their responsibilities relating to the compliance risk management process, as required by relevant regulatory requirements, and applicable internal policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and implementing compliance monitoring plans
  • Assist in conducting compliance audits of the organisation based on applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures
  • Checking all business documentation and correspondence to ensure compliance with legislation
  • Assist with general compliance inquiries
  • Maintenance of department specific compliance monitoring plan
  • Assist in the development, drafting and updating of procedure, process, policy documentation
  • Liaise and communicate with relevant head of departments in respect of compliance monitoring activities
  • Verify non-compliance and report as appropriate
  • Liaise with attorneys and other stakeholders on claims to be referred to independent tribunal
  • Prepare cases and necessary documentation for tribunal hearings
  • Schedule tribunal hearing dates and send notification to relevant stakeholders
  • General Administration:
  • Produce reports as required
  • Attend to typing of general correspondence as required
  • Attend to daily administrative tasks in accordance with organisational standards, processes and procedures

Minimum requirements

  • Undergraduate Law degree
  • Minimum 6 month’s experience in compliance
  • Knowledge of compliance monitoring
  • Insurance knowledge
  • Intermediate Microsoft office skills
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage processes effectively
  • Personal drive and enthusiasm
  • Analytical and keen eye for detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Exposure to monitoring principles
  • Effective Self-management and team work
  • A service oriented attitude to defining the business requirements to stakeholder satisfaction
