Democratic Alliance (DA): Constituency Officer Opportunities

The Democratic Alliance seeks confident, energetic and strategic individuals in Gauteng and Limpopo who are deeply committed to deliver on the DA’s dream of an Open Opportunity Society for All. The successful candidates will be key members of the DA’s Provincial Operational Team and will report directly to the Constituency Operations Coordinator with an indirect reporting line to the Provincial Field Operations Manager, the Provincial Managing Director and Executive Director: Field Operations.

The ideal candidates will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and assuming responsibility for the design and development of ward profiles for the wards in their identified areas
  • Effectively coordinating, guiding and managing all political activities and ensuring that they are operationally executed in accordance with a pre-designed programme of action
  • Working alongside the Constituency Operations Coordinator to identify issues that affect voters and designing campaigns to address these issues
  • Implementing the most effective methods of communicating with voters with a view of establishing permanent presence in all identified areas and building relationships of trust with new voters
  • Establishing and sustaining political activity designed to create a permanent and positive presence in the identified areas
  • Promoting the brand of the DA and establishing the DA as a viable political choice in the identified area
  • Effectively implementing and coordinating all Party campaigns in the identified areas
  • Establishing and coordinating Party volunteer and activist programmes in the identified areas and ensuring that branches are fully operational entities within the Party
  • Overseeing campaigns, including by-elections as designated
  • Overall, maximising the DA’s share of the vote in the identified area

Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the DA
  • A detailed understanding of the DA’s vision of an Open, Opportunity Society for All
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Party
  • The preferred candidate must be completely outcomes orientated and not simply task orientated
  • Ability to build trust and relationships within a community
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Proven record of initiative, problem solving, and the ability to recognize and implement improvements to systems
  • The ability to apply sound political judgment and the ability to identify key issues relevant to communities
  • Experience in project and financial management preferable
  • Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in more than one language
  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite
  • An ability to work effectively and energetically around a demanding work schedule;
  • Willing to work long and irregular hours
  • Willingness to travel with own vehicle (The successful applicant MUST be in possession of a valid driver’s license).
