African Extracts skin care was started in 2002 by Cape Town entrepreneur Rob Tiffin, founder of one of South Africa’s largest toiletry gift business supplying major retail stores. His wife, Sarah Hetherington, award-winning former beauty editor, heads up brand communication for the company

Recognising the health benefits in the Rooibos tea he loves, Rob led the development of a quality, affordable skin-care range based on this unique indigenous plant extract.

Rooibos grows naturally only in the Cederberg mountain region of the Western Cape, and has powerful antioxidants and minerals to boost the skin’s natural defences against environmental factors. This makes it ideal for South African skins and our climate.

The original Classic skin care is still the best-selling range – the hugely popular Classic Moisturising Day Cream SPF15 is South Africa’s top-selling 75ml essential care daily moisturiser! From being in a few pharmacies, African Extracts is now available almost everywhere, competing strongly with imported brands.

Over the years several new ranges have been launched – first Purifying for oily problem skins, then anti-ageing Advantage and in 2019 Radiance for even tone. All the products contain Bio-Active Rooibos, antioxidant vitamins and other natural plant extracts with proven skin-care benefits. All deliver on the brand promise of quality care and value for money.
