CiTiX 250 students Training & Internship in Software Programming

Apply for a CiTiX programme NOW!CiTiX – Futured by BCX, is a groundbreaking skills development and career-readiness programme to bridge the gap between South African youth and the future of business, fully funded by Business Connexion Group (BCX), an information and communications technology company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Telkom Group.

CiTiX will, in 2018, equip 250 young people from across South Africa to lead digital innovation and the future of business through:

  • Software Programming or ICT Infrastructure technical discipline training through one of the below programmes.
  • 21st century business skills training for success in the modern workplace
  • Leading edge future skills training in one of the following areas, identified by BCX as core competencies for innovation leadership in 2018: Artificial Intelligence, Fintech, Geomatics, Operational Technology or Cybersecurity
  • Work experience at BCX or one of CapaCiTi’s partner tech organisations during a 3-month internship, where students will apply the skills they’ve learnt to real business problems.

All students must be South African citizens, currently unemployed, and previously disadvantaged. Individual programme requirements below.Training will take place in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Durban.)

1. Bootcamp in Software Programming (online learning): The curriculum commences with an introduction to Python and software development fundamentals. This is followed by a deeper dive into the mastering of Java and software development best practices. Career paths include business analyst, software architect and developer.

  • Requirement: Minimum entry criteria are Matric plus IT Certificate (NQF 5) or higher.
  • Candidates should have some programming training or experience.

2. Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Software Development: This programme seeks to re-skill unemployed and under-employed graduates who hold a basic 3-year degree in any faculty. The curriculum covers process design and analysis, software programming, interface design, business application development and mobile application development. Career paths include software tester, mobile developer and DBA developer.

  • Requirement: Minimum entry criteria are Matric plus 3-year undergraduate degree in any faculty.

3. Cloud Architecture programme: This programme will develop capability in cloud networking. This qualification is a foundational path which could lead to careers in infrastructure, development, architecture and data, depending on the exam the candidate writes.

  • Requirement: Matric, experience in IT an advantage.

4. Network administration and support programme: This programme equips students with foundational skills in IT Essentials, Routing and Switching, Linux Fundamentals, CCNA 1 and 2. Career path includes network security administrator, service desk analyst and systems support technician.
