Key responsibilities:
- Ensuring the safety of staff using HSRC hired vehicles;
- Ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean
- Keep record of all costs associated with the vehicle, i.e. toll slips, fuel slips
- Ensure that the logbook is correctly filled in;
- Ensure that any damages and faults are promptly reported to the supervisor and field coordinator, and that risk procedures are followed with regards to any damages experienced;
- Portray a positive and professional image in the study communities while driving the vehicle;
- Carry out any other activities deemed necessary for the effective and productive functioning of the team.
- Ensure that HSRC branding is on the vehicle
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license (Code EB and PDP) of longer than 12 months;
- Endorsement free driving record; 2-3 years driving experience (trainees will be tested during training)
- The applicant should be in possession of at least Grade 12
- Willingness to travel long distances, within and outside of one’s province
- Willingness to visit selected households during weekends and after hours
- Able to respond to fieldworkers’ requests for specimen and other data collection packs at short notice
- Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in research (HSRC or elsewhere) in a similar position
- Must be a South African Citizen
