Engineering Internship Cover Letter Sample – No Experience

As an engineering student, you face no better way to gain experience in your chosen field than to secure an internship. Just as if you were a job seeker, you will have to write a cover letter that describes your academic record, why you would be a good fit for the organization and the skills and attributes you bring to the table. In other words, you will have to sell yourself in an honest and forthright manner.

Dear Mr. Crowley:

I am writing to apply for the Engineering Graduate / Internship Opportunities position, found on www.khabza.com. I am a junior pursuing a BSC or B-Tech, (Industrial, and or Mechanical), BEng at University of Cape Town. With my engineering coursework and project experience, my innovative mindset and affinity for problem solving, and my history of successful team projects, I believe I am a strong candidate for this role.

As indicated in the enclosed resume, I am particularly effective in:

✔ Assisting the development of new products
✔ Monitoring the manufacturing processes at the plants to improve product yields
✔ Helping in new product and process implementation
✔ Troubleshooting technical and manufacturing problems

Furthermore, I am a good problem solver, which is my main asset, and able to apply statistical methods to optimize manufacturing processes and production standards. Moreover, I have deep knowledge of raw material allocation and procurement.

I am very interested in this position and would like to discuss it in more detail with you. I may be contacted on the telephone number given in this cover letter. To follow-up, I will contact you after 6 working days.

Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,

You Name
