Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA)

The mission of the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is to ensure that the mining and minerals sector has sufficient competent people who will improve health and safety, employment equity, and increase productivity standards.

The Authority’s strategic objectives are to: support sector transformation through skills development; support objective decision-making for skills development through sector research; enhance information management for skills development in the sector; facilitate and support the development and implementation of core skills development programmes aligned with the sector qualifications framework; enhance the monitoring, evaluation and review of the delivery, capacity and quality of skills development in the sector; and run an efficient, effective and transparent corporate governance system within the legislative framework.
