: Construction and Maintenance: Bellville Mechanical Workshop

Job Purpose The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government has a training and development opportunity for Fitter and turner apprenticeship at the apprentice training school and at a technical college under the supervision of an artisan. The successful incumbent must be in good health with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks. This position is based in Bellville, Cape Town.
Minimum Requirements A Technical Matric Certificate or (N stream) with Mathematics and Science as passed subjects; Candidates must be under the ages of 21 years.
Recommendation Exposure to: Fitting and turning theory and/or Graphics and design; Valid driving licence.
Key Performance Areas Attend technical college as prescribed and produce designs and objects according to the year program; Inspect equipment and construction plant with the Artisan for technical/mechanical faults; Repair construction equipment and machinery according to standards; Test repaired construction equipment and machinery with the Artisan against specifications; Training in service and maintenance of road construction plant, equipment and machinery according to schedule; Keep and maintain job record and other registers.

Remuneration R 124 914 per annum plus 37% in lieu of service benefits (As prescribed by OSD) Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
