Foundation Phase Internship Programme at St Peter’s School

St Peter’s offers people, with a desire to teach and learn, the opportunity to study towards a qualification in Education through UNISA, paid for by the school, while gaining practical, ‘hands on’ experience in the process. Interns will also be mentored by the highly regarded teaching staff at St Peter’s School.
WHAT WILL ST PETER’S COVER?
The School will cover the costs of tuition, books and study materials, daily lunch as well as a monthly stipend.
WHAT IS THE DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME?
Five years, completing theory and practical teaching modules. A six month probation period and six months further teaching experience with a view to placement.
HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE PROGRAMME?
- Matric endorsement
- Competence in English and one other First Additional language
- Passion for Foundation Phase teaching
- South African citizenship
- Full CV
- Letter of motivation from yourself
- Reference from Head of your school or current employer
WHAT DOES THE PROGRAMME REQUIRE?
- Commitment to an 8 hour day observing, preparing and presenting lessons, study breaks, extra murals, school administration, school functions
- Completion and submission of assignments and success in examinations
- Attendance of mentoring sessions offered on-site by professionally experienced teachers
- A teachable spirit
- Fun and hard work, working together within a group of student – teachers
