MISS SOUTH AFRICA 2015 CASTING CALL FAQS
Who can enter Miss SA 2015?
- Any woman who is at least 18 years old and not older than 27 years on 1 February 2015 and who is a resident of South Africa, may enter.

How and where can I enter Miss SA 2015?
- You may complete an entry form online before 30 September 2014.
- Anyone who completes an entry form will contacted by the Miss SA Production Team to be informed of where and when the closest open casting will take place.
- Even if you have completed an online entry form you MUST still come to the open casting days in the city nearest to you.
- Having completed an online entry form allows you to skip to the front of the queue at the castings.
You DO NOT have to enter online or via email or post as you may also enter for the first time at one of the following open casting days:
- 4 October 2014: GrandWest Casino & Entertainment World in Cape Town
- 11 October 2014: Sibaya Casino in Durban
- 19 October 2014: The Boardwalk Hotel & Casino in Port Elizabeth
- 26 October 2014: The Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg
Registration begins at 08:00 on each of the casting call days, but GET THERE EARLY to avoid the queues!
What do you need to bring to the castings?
- You may have a long wait in the queue especially if you make it to the secondary rounds, so bring water, food and something to protect you from the weather.
- We will also need to verify your age so please bring your passport or Identity Document.
- You will need to change, so bring a bag along to keep all your possessions together.
- First impressions are lasting, so DRESS TO IMPRESS and stand out in the crowd!
- Make sure you have heels for the casting but you can bring flats along for standing in the queue.
- You will also need to bring a bikini for the first part of your casting.
- You need to do your own hair and make up, but remember that less is more, so keep the make up simple and natural or the judges WILL ask you to take it off.
IMPORTANT: The Miss SA castings will be documented for TV and print media, so when you see a camera don’t hide!
What will happen on casting day?
Round 1: Swimsuit casting
- If you haven’t already entered online or via email or post, you will need to fill in an entry form on arrival at the casting.
- You will then be given a contestant number and a photograph will be taken.
- You will then be asked to change into swimwear with heels for your first casting in Round 1, which is off camera.
- Should you be successful in Round 1 you will be asked to come back for round 2 on the same day.
- Remember the judges decision is FINAL and no negotiation will be entered into.
Round 2: On-camera interview
- For round 2 you will be asked to change back into day-wear.
- You will then be interviewed on camera.
- You will be asked a few questions about yourself.
- You will be asked to show off your unique, hidden talents.
- You will not be given any results in this round.
- The video footage of your interview will be taken back to Johannesburg where it will be assessed by the judging panel, along with all of the other tapes from around the country.
- The judges will then decide which girls will be asked to come up to the Miss SA workshops at the end of November.
- Again, please remember that the judges decision is final!

YES! We want people with charisma and personality so, yes! Have your say!
- May my family and friends watch my audition?
Your friends and family may not enter the audition room, but they are welcome to wait for you in the holding room.
- What if I can’t make the dates for the next round?
Unfortunately you are not that special yet! If you cannot make the date and time, you will be disqualified.
- What are the judges looking for?
The judges are looking for genuine charisma, creativity and individuality. Someone who is sexy but classy, who has an opinion but is not aggressive or rude. A young woman who is world-wise and passionate about her country. We want the quintessential South African girl-next-door who is not afraid to speak her mind and have a little fun!
Most importantly, forget EVERYTHING you think you know about Miss SA and just BE YOURSELF, let your personality shine!
- Who are the judges?
The judges for the open castings will comprise of various pageant directors, celebrities and former Miss South Africa winners. The judges in each venue may vary.
The judges for the final pageant in March 2015 will be announced soon.
- What if I do not agree with the rules or the way the pageant is run?
The Rules and procedures are subject to change at the Miss SA Organisation’s discretion without notice. The producers decision is final. By entering Miss SA 2015, you agree to abide by the decisions of the producers.
- What if I do not agree with what the judges do or say?
The judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. By entering Miss SA you agree to abide by the decisions made by the judges.
- If I make it past Round 2 and into the workshops, for how long will I need to be available?
- If you are asked to attend the Miss SA workshops, you will need to be available from the end of November 2014.
- The final of Miss South Africa will be held in March 2015.
- So if you want to win this competition you need to make yourself available on and off for 4 months from end of November.
- We are looking for a committed young woman who will do what it takes to be successful … invest four months now and you could have a lifetime of success, with all the doors that winning Miss SA 2015 will open for you!
Round 3: Workshops
- 30-40 contestants from around the country who are chosen from Round 2 will be invited to Round 3, which will take place at The Maslow hotel in Johannesburg.
- This round comprises of a series of workshops and interviews where candidates or evaluated.
- At the end of these workshops the judges will choose the Miss SA finalists.
Round 3 FAQs:
Will I be provided with clothing in this round?
No.
How will I get to Johannesburg?
- The production will pay for and arrange your flights, accommodation and meals if you live outside of Johannesburg.
- If you live in Johannesburg you will be expected to arrive at The Maslow Hotel on the date and time provided by the Production Team.
- Missing your flight or failing to arrive will be your quickest ticket out of the competition!
What should I bring?
Enough clothes and toiletries for 12 days.
What if I am sick?
