Introduction
Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires a suitably qualified Senior Laboratory Technician to o manage, control and calibrate Mill Laboratory instrumentation and equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical results. Perform non-routine analysis including trouble shooting in pulp and chemical plants. To serve as a control for analyses performed in satellite laboratories as well as troubleshooting and problem solving in the plant.
Key Responsibilities
– Maintains, services and calibrates analytical instruments as per ISO requirements – Ensure continued reliability of analysts and accuracy of test methods and results through inter Laboratory testing with Sappi Technology Centre and SABS and initiate corrective action if required. – Investigates/develops calibration and analytical test Methods. – Trains and mentors staff and issues competencies. – Responsibility for cost control in some relevant fields – Issues PPE and tea rations to staff and maintains records.
Minimum Requirements
– National Diploma in a relevant Chemistry field – 3 years’ experience in an industrial laboratory
