Bridging the gap between what you’ve learnt at university and what you need practically to flourish at Samancor Chrome in the BIS Department.
The initial focus will be on core skills training to develop the personal and professional skills required to establish one’s technical foundation in IT and EA. A dedicated mentor will assist and guide you during the 12 month period to ensure you provide effective and efficient IT support to end users.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and support new IT Systems
- Implement, control and support PC software (LAN Applications) on the Local Area Network
- Provide education to users to bring about an understanding of IT security risks
- Safeguard IT facilities (access control and environmental conditions)
- Implement and support new IT Infrastructure (Computers and Networks)
- Ensure compliance to Group standardisation of Hardware/Software for Samancor Chrome
- Maintain IT infrastructure availability and performance
- Provide a 24 hr support function to end-users – Standby duties
- Liaise with service providers as required
- Monitor outstanding incidents on a regular basis
- Deal with or escalate IT operational problems that have been escalated from the outsourced service provider
- Maintain the Asset Control Register and related asset systems.
Required Qualifications:
Degree / National Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in:
- Computer Science,
- Computer and Software Engineering,
- Information Technology
- or Informatics.
