Key responsibilities:
- Overall in charge of the team
- Responsible for supervising the team’s work
- Assigns work to team members
- Ensure full understanding of the HSRC and project processes;
- Effectively lead a team;
- Ensure that data collectors secure informed consent from participants;
- Check data collected by each data collector on a daily basis and ensure all data has been successfully uploaded to the HSRC server.
- Download data from field staff should need arise due to technical difficulties and upload to HSRC server;
- Report directly to the Assistant Provincial Coordinator;
- Ensure quality work by following processes, procedures and steps outlined in the Manual
- Conduct ad-hoc quality checks;
- Manage field expenses and follow HSRC rules and regulations in this regard;
- Represent team members at the HSRC;
- Prepare and submit daily reports, including work/attendance register;
- Hold weekly team meetings with team;
- Drive hired car (may be assisted by other team members who may be registered as co-drivers);
- Spot check collected DBS quality in terms of the number of blood spots and fullness of circles.
- Management of own and team’s assets provided by the HSRC and ensure that timely reporting on los and theft is done
- Ensure that team assets are returned to the HSRC upon project completion
Requirements:
- Has worked in a managerial, coordinating or supervising position in any of his/her previous employment (this should be reflected in the CV of the person who applies to be a Supervisor)
- Has a valid driver’s license; can actually drive i.e. has driven a car in the last 3 months (trainees will be tested during training)
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Able to compile reports (both numerical and narrative)
- Experience using electronic tablets and laptops and utilization of the Microsoft Suite
- Has problem-solving skills
- Able to lead a team to effective performance
- The applicant should be in possession of at least a post graduate qualification
- Above average ability to read, write and understand English
- Available for a period of up to 12 months but this will be determined by maps available per province
- Willingness to travel long distances, within and outside of one’s province
- Willingness to visit selected households during weekends and after hours
- Willingness to work in a team
- Be committed and apply self-discipline to completing one’s task as required
- Those who have worked in research (HSRC or elsewhere) are encouraged to apply
- Preference will given to professional nurses
- Must be a South African Citizen
