Key responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and feedback reports on counsellors providing HIV Counselling and Testing services using an appropriate counselling and testing model as per NDOH guidelines?
- Supervision of counsellors in providing appropriate referrals for HIV positive household members;
- Ensure quality work by following processes, procedures and steps outlined in the Training Manual provided.
- Record expenses, claims and any other that will need to be paid out by HSRC for future reference.
- Drive hired car (may be assisted by other team members who may be registered as co-drivers);
Key requirements:
- B degree in Social Sciences or other. Applicants with previous relevant work experience as a HTS Coordinator in similar studies without a degree may be considered based on prior learning subject that they hold at least a Grade 12 qualification.
- Honours/Masters degree an added advantage
- Accredited training and certification in HIV counselling and testing;
- At least two years relevant working experience in field work in a survey study in a research environment;
- Knowledge of HIV and AIDS;
- Ability to communicate well in English and other South African Languages;
- Committed and motivated to preventing HIV and supporting people living with HIV;
- Non-judgmental, trustworthy and empathetic;
- Proven ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters;
- Available for a period of 12 months;
- Willingness to travel long distances, within and outside of one’s province
- Willingness to visit selected households during weekends and after hours as needed
- Willingness to work in a team
- Be committed and apply self-discipline to completing one’s task as required
- Preference will be given to applicants who have worked in research (HSRC or elsewhere) in a similar position
- Has a valid driver’s license; can actually drive i.e. has driven a car on a regular basis in the last 6 months (trainees may be tested during training)
- Experience in supervision/team leading
- Must be a South African Citizen
