PURPOSE

  • The East London Industrial Development Zone SOC Ltd is a State-Owned Corporation set up by government through the South African Industrial Development Zones Programme (now the South African Special Economic Zones Programme) to develop, operate and maintain modern infrastructure and to complementary attract strategic investments for the region.

REQUIREMENTS

  • N3 in Waste Treatment Practice
  • 3 years’ proven experience in pump operations and general maintenance.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Basic reading and arithmetic skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to determine faults / where operations not occurring as required
  • Environmental Safety requirements and procedures pertaining to ELIDZ
  • Knowledge of sewerage pump functioning and cleaning/clearing rituals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Duties:

  • Empty, clean and replace drum screen bags and heads regularly
  • Flush compactor unit regularly
  • Clear the sludge (flushing sluice gate)

Cleaning Functions:

  • Toilets and Wash hand Basin
  • Windows
  • Ventilation screens
  • Pump Room Floor
  • Staircase and Handrails
  • Refuse area

Maintenance Issues:

  • Ensure operational sluice gates
  • Empty waste bins and full drainage
  • Light fittings and ventilation fans functional
  • Fix Loose pipes, tripped pumps, tripped drum screen units, blockages, and flooding and the like reported and resolved

Perform Minor Repairs (Zone):

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Perform minor repairs to ELIDZ equipment and facilities
  • Ensure all assigned duties are completed
  • Report all daily logs or activities.
