Primarily functioning as a graduate substation design engineer/technologist for transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects. The candidate will be exposed to both primary plant and secondary plant substation design, HV/MV transmission lines and renewable energy projects. Up to 50% travel to clients, sites and manufacturers premises is envisaged. The role will require foreign travel, specifically in Africa

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES —  Graduate Engineers/Technologists shall execute all responsibilities under the supervision of a senior engineer
— Assist with the preparation of functional designs, specifications and tender documents for substation, transmission lines and renewable energy projects to internationally accepted standards for clients in Southern Africa and also internationally.
— Preparation of reports and drawings to stakeholder requirements.
— Review detailed designs submitted by contractors
— Attend meetings with project stakeholders
— Site audits, data collection, and inputs to Project Scoping
— Provide project engineering support during the execution phase of the transmission, distribution and renewable energy projects including responding to technical queries, witnessing of factory inspection and testing of materials, site inspections and witnessing of site acceptance testing and monitoring of construction progress on site
— Preparation of proposals for consultancy services

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
— BSc Engineering (Electrical) Degree or BTech Engineering (Electrical)
— Strong Microsoft Excel skills
— Microsoft Office suite
KEY COMPETENCIES AND GENERIC SKILLS:
— Ability to work independently and within a team of engineers
— Good communication skills
— Good technical report writing skills
— Ability to manage time, quality and effort in order to deliver a quality product within time and cost constraints
— Ability to coordinate and manage projects
— Ability to work under pressure
— Must be able to function independently
— Interest in the Power Generation/Transmission and Distribution/Renewable Energy Industries
