How To Check FET College is Registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training

Every year, learners register at bogus colleges for further studies just to find out at the end of the year that they cannot write their exams because they were never registered. Always make sure that you are studying at a registered FET college.

All public FET colleges are registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training and you need to ensure that the college can show you proof of this registration. You can also contact the Department of Higher Education and Training to confirm with them as to whether or not the college is registered with them. Either way be sure not to get scammed by a college making promises that they can not keep!

Private institutions offering further education and training programmes must register with the Department of Higher Education and Training in accordance with the Further Education and Training Colleges Act, 2006 (Act No. 16 of 2006).

To find out if a private FET college is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training,

look on the register of private FET education institutions.

How do I check if a provider is registered and accredited?

In order to check whether a provider is registered and accredited, you will need to contact the appropriate Quality Assuring Body. This will depend on the type of Qualifications being offered by the provider.

Providers offering Qualifications for schooling will need to be registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), your provincial Department of Education, and UMALUSI.

You can check their accreditation status with UMALUSI on the following link:
